We Saved you a Seat

Favourite places to eat in the Lake District

We get asked all the time by our guests before they arrive, if we have a favourite place to eat in the Lake District and we do, but we believe food is a personal choice and find it difficult to say exactly where that favourite is, maybe you can guess. We like to leave it up for you to choose. In fact we have a book at the cottage where we ask guests to leave their reviews about places, activities and things they find, that defined their holiday and food is no exception to this.

Food plays a massive part of any holiday, whether it’s food you prepare yourself at our cottage when you stay with us, or the food you buy on the move or the food that you enjoy when eating out and for many, a holiday is not a holiday if it is not all about the food too. Food evokes memories that stays with us that we can still see and smell even when we have left a destination.

Trying new recipes and delicacies is probably one of the best ways to get everyone together when on holiday and it’s a lovely way for people to reconnect over the joy of eating good food. Put delicious food and a great bottle of wine in front of anyone and it will be a time to remember!

So after a day of exploring the Lake District’s trails, fells, lakes and visiting the pretty towns Cumbria has to offer, you will likely have worked up a good appetite. Hey you may have developed one in the middle of that too. So why not check out our list of recommendations, or as we like to think "Cumbria on a plate" showcasing some of the regions best eateries in our view, I won't tell you which is our favourite why not check the list out yourself and maybe even let us know of any we've missed off by adding to our book in the cottage.

If you’re a foodie planning a trip to the region, you’ll be spoiled for choice for sure. You can go from one meal to the next from table to table depending on whether you’re looking for Michelin-star fine dining experiences (11 establisments to be exact one of which has 3 of those sparkly ⭐️'s), cosy inns/pubs, or quirky cafés, the Lake District and Cumbria has a go at giving you its all from breakfast right through to supper…

But be careful if you get through this plate you may leave us just a few pounds heavier or you may find you need more time to get through the whole plate and need to visit us again :).
